Voting Recommendations from Jerry Berbiar
November 02, 2010 California Election
Proposition 19 — ✔ YES
Yes! Of course we should legalize marijuana! 1:43AM Sep 16, 2010
Proposition 20 — ✘ NO
No. This would give the Republicans much more power in the State Congress. I might be ready to undo gerrymandered Democratic districts in California when the Republicans give up their gerrymandered districts in Texas. 2:00AM Sep 16, 2010
Proposition 21 — ✔ YES
Yes. Actually I think health care and schools are a higher priority but nature renews our souls. 1:50AM Sep 16, 2010
Proposition 22 — ✘ NO
No. There might be more important needs than transportation like keeping health clinics or day care centers open. In a fiscal emergency we shouldn't remove the option of shifting money around in the budget. 2:32AM Sep 16, 2010
Proposition 23 — ✘ NO
No. This one is really crazy in light of global warming and environmental degradation. Also, if California reneged on their clean air commitments it would send a signal to the rest of the country and the world. 2:03AM Sep 16, 2010
Proposition 24 — ✔ YES
No. Taxes pay for necessary services. 2:13AM Sep 16, 2010
Proposition 25 — ✔ YES
Yes, Yes, Yes! This is the most important initiative on the ballot. If the California legislature could pass a budget with a simple majority it would break the Republican stranglehold that freezes up the budget process in California every single year. 1:44AM Sep 16, 2010
Proposition 26 — ✘ NO
No. Taxes pay for necessary services. We should not make it nearly impossible to raise them. 2:11AM Sep 16, 2010
Proposition 27 — ✔ YES
No. Keep those districts in the hands of Democrats. 2:12AM Sep 16, 2010
Governor — ✔ EDMUND BROWN
Jerry Brown. Meg Whitman is a monster. She would decimate whats left of California's schools, health care, social services, police and fire departments, etc. to shift money to the super rich. Only Jerry Brown can beat her. A vote for an alternative candidate is a vote for Meg Whitman. Yes, I do know that Jerry Brown is a tired old political hack, but he's the logical choice. 1:48AM Sep 16, 2010
Lieutenant Governor — ✔ GAVIN NEWSOM
I'll probably vote for Gavin Newsom to get him out of San Francisco. Maybe we could get a progressive mayor (Aaron Peskin?) for nine years! Why do I dislike Newsom? Aside from gay marriage and Healthy San Francisco, Newsom has been a terrible mayor for tenants, the homeless, funding for health care, or caring about the poor. Pro-development, he is similar to Willie Brown. Newsom showed his lack of interest in being SF mayor except as a stepping stone to higher office. He was totally AWOL in the midst of crises over budget negotiations while he tried to run for Governor. I'd hate voting for him, but will just to kick him upstairs. 4:29AM Aug 19, 2010
Gloria La Riva Peace and Freedom. Nancy will win with a huge margin, Gloria is the best protest vote. (Google her) 2:34AM Sep 16, 2010
United States Senate — ✔ BARBARA BOXER
Barbara Boxer I love Barbara Boxer! Carly Fiorina is a total bitch! There, wasn't that a well reasoned argument? 2:05AM Sep 16, 2010
Tom Ammianno Democrat There isn't enough room here to write about the literally hundreds of good things this man has done for neighborhoods, schools, San Francisco, and California. He is truly a man of the people. 2:25AM Sep 16, 2010
Attorney General — ✔ KAMALA HARRIS
Peter Allen Green Party Kamala Harris has been staunchly against the death penalty but she is also flawed. She came out against the initiative to legalize marijuana and had proved incompetent in supervising the crime lab and has a dismal rate (47%) on convictions for homicide, rape, armed robbery, aggravated assault, and other violent crimes. 4:27AM Aug 19, 2010
Controller — ✔ JOHN CHIANG
John Chiang Democrat He stood up to Schwarzenegger and refused to lower State workers wages to minimum wage. He went to court for the workers and won. Let's reelect him. 2:28AM Sep 16, 2010
Insurance Commissioner — ✔ DAVE JONES
Dave Jones Democrat This guy has actually fought the insurance companies on behalf of consumers. 2:17AM Sep 16, 2010
Secretary Of State — ✔ DEBRA BOWEN
Debra Bowen She is the Democrat 2:06AM Sep 16, 2010
Superintendent Of Public Instruction — ✔ TOM TORLAKSON
Larry Aceves Not much choice is there? Without him who would supervise how we are publicly instructed? 2:30AM Sep 16, 2010
Treasurer — ✔ CHARLES CRITTENDEN
Charles Crittenden Green Party Bill Lockyer the Democrat is a dreary political hack. It's for California Treasurer, not exactly a stepping stone to anywhere. 2:16AM Sep 16, 2010
